After the Rain captures the hushed, saturated beauty of the forest floor following a rainfall. A solitary mushroom rises from a tangle of moss and vegetation, its pale cap standing in quiet contrast to the deep greens and earthy browns surrounding it.
Created in needle-felted wool, long, loosely worked fibers blur and stretch across the composition, suggesting water running down glass or a landscape viewed through a rain-covered lens. Rather than defining every detail, the wool is allowed to remain soft and expressive, giving the scene a sense of movement and atmosphere.
Quiet, damp, and slightly dreamlike, After the Rain celebrates one of nature’s smallest moments—the world still dripping as the rain begins to pass.

American Barn Owl captures the quiet presence of one of nature’s most distinctive birds. Created in needle-felted wool, the portrait builds the owl’s soft plumage through layers of cream, gold, warm brown, and white fibers, with careful attention given to the subtle markings that make each feather seem to emerge from the surface.
The owl’s characteristic heart-shaped face and dark, watchful eyes form the focal point, while the tactile nature of wool lends a softness particularly suited to the bird’s almost silent presence.
Both detailed and atmospheric, American Barn Owl celebrates the delicate beauty of a remarkable nocturnal hunter—a bird that can appear at once serene, mysterious, and completely alert.

The Fairy Tree sprouted from the wonder and storytelling of my 2025 trip to Ireland — a little piece of the Emerald Isle stitched into fiber. In Irish folklore, a lone tree in a field is a fairy tree: sacred, mysterious, and not to be touched. Rumor has it that disturbing one will bring the fairies’ displeasure, so admire from a respectful distance and let the magic live on.
Perfect for gifting or tucking into a cozy nook where a little magic is welcome.

With his wrinkled brow, squishy muzzle, and unmistakable French Bulldog expression, Frenchie captures the wonderfully serious face of a dog who seems to have very strong opinions about everything.
Created entirely in wool, layers of carefully blended fibers build the subtle variations of fawn, cream, and black throughout his face, while sculptural felting gives dimension to his characteristic folds, ears, and glossy muzzle. Set against a rich blue background and nestled beside soft neutral forms, the close composition gives the piece an intimate, almost photographic quality.
Equal parts dignified, skeptical, and completely lovable, Frenchie is a celebration of the personality that makes this little breed impossible to resist.

Geodes 1 draws inspiration from the hidden landscapes found inside stone—where ordinary surfaces give way to unexpected color, pattern, and crystalline form.
Layers of needle-felted wool radiate outward in irregular bands, mimicking the organic growth of a geode while allowing the fibers to create their own variations in texture and shape. Rich shifts in color and contrasting details give the piece a sense of depth, as though revealing a cross-section of something formed slowly beneath the earth.
Both abstract and geological, Geodes 1 is a study in repetition, texture, and the beautiful unpredictability of natural forms.

Hare is an intimate wildlife portrait rendered entirely in needle-felted wool. Layers of natural browns, creams, grays, and soft ochres are carefully blended to build the subtle markings and texture of the animal’s fur.
Fine fiber details define the rabbit’s long ears, delicate whiskers, and expressive face, while the warm amber eye becomes the quiet focal point of the piece. Set against an understated natural-wool background, the simple composition allows the animal’s form and character to take center stage.
Soft in material but remarkably detailed, Hare celebrates the quiet beauty of an animal so familiar that it is often overlooked.

Pluvial Hush captures a crow in a quieter moment, surrounded by cool blues that evoke rain, water, and the softened atmosphere of a storm.
Rather than relying on realism, the bird is built through simplified shapes, bold lines, and layered fields of blue. The surrounding forms shift between droplets, ripples, and fragments of sky, allowing the crow to emerge from—and nearly dissolve back into—its environment.
Created in needle-felted wool, Pluvial Hush pairs the tactile softness of fiber with a graphic, almost stained-glass quality. It is a small study in color, texture, and stillness: the world momentarily hushed by rain.

A trio of whimsical fish comes to life in Scandinavian Fish, each adorned with its own playful pattern and personality. Inspired by Scandinavian folk art, rich mustard, burgundy, navy, and white fibers create bold geometric details against a softly mottled background.
Needle felted by hand, the layered wool gives the fish a double dimensional quality that invites a closer look. Verdant Call explores the crow through color, shape, and movement rather than realism. Rendered in unexpected shades of chartreuse, moss, and deep forest green, the bird emerges from a patchwork of overlapping forms that echo leaves, shadows, and dense vegetation.
Bold black lines define the crow’s open beak and angular silhouette, capturing it in the instant of a call. The surrounding greens seem to shift between bird and landscape, allowing the figure to become part of the environment itself.
Created in needle-felted wool, Verdant Call embraces a looser, more graphic approach to fiber art—celebrating texture, abstraction, and the unmistakable attitude of the crow.

Placed THIRD in the 2026 Fowlerville Family Fair juried exhibition!
Years ago, I read Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, and the story stayed with me. When I began thinking about how to open my series “Echoes of Her Culture” I felt compelled to start with this ancient art form. As I studied the role of geishas in Japanese culture, three of their most cherished virtues stood out to me: peace, beauty, and strength. From that inspiration, “Virtues of a Geisha” was born.
This triptych features three distinct geishas in traditional dress, each depicted in a moment emblematic of their way of life. Every panel blends the contrasting textures of polymer clay and wool. In the first panel, a geisha holds an umbrella, shielding herself from falling cherry blossoms. In the upper left corner appears the Japanese kanji for Peace (Heiwa). The second panel shows a geisha demurely hidden behind an intricately decorated uchiwa fan, alongside the kanji for Beauty (Utsukushii). The final panel captures a dancing geisha performing with traditional sensu fans, accompanied by the kanji for Strength (Chikara). Each panel is colored to reflect its virtue: blue and green for peace, tranquility, and harmony; pink and white for fleeting beauty and purity; and gold and indigo for divine power and nobility.
The work is needle‑felted with Merino sheep’s wool on a 100% wool felt backing, paired with Sculpey Premo polymer clay. Each framed piece measures 11.5”w x 14.75”h x 1.75”d and is matted in cream linen and mounted in a black wooden shadow box.

Do you have a favorite place you’ve been that you’d like to have captured in fiber art? I ask that you upload a clear photo of the place you want recreated and tell me what you love about it—whether it’s the light at a certain hour, a particular color palette, a memorable detail like a weathered fence or a favorite tree, or the way the landscape makes you feel. Clear, high-resolution images with good contrast and minimal blur give me the best reference to translate textures, colors, and mood into fiber, and your description helps prioritize which elements to emphasize in the finished piece.
